The murder of inmate Cristian Moyano occurred on Saturday, November 1, during a brutal beating. After news of his death spread, other inmates gathered the next day and started a riot in two pavilions, taking a prison guard hostage.

The situation was brought under control several hours later, and an investigation was launched, concluding with the detention of SPB agents accused of participating in the attack that led to the inmate's death.

Additionally, 15 cell phones, all belonging to on-duty staff, were confiscated.

The victim, a 24-year-old cadet from the Buenos Aires Police, had been admitted to Unit 24 on October 28 on charges of aggravated sexual assault, confirmed sources from the Noticias Argentinas agency.

"The authorities of Unit 24 and the Florencio Varela Penitentiary Complex collaborated fully with all requests from the Justice, and from Internal Affairs, an administrative summary was initiated to investigate the incident internally," they detailed.

They also informed that the cell where the incident occurred and the health sector were "preserved for the necessary expert examinations by the Scientific Police, with the collaboration of the Fifth Police Station of Florencio Varela."
